Age of Aquarius

Astrological time period from 2375 to 4535 when the constellation of Aquarius will be in power. It will be marked by higher consciousness and spiritual advancement of the human race as a whole.

Archetype

Generic representation of a person or concept used in modern psychology to identify different aspects of an individual's personality.  For example, the Savior Archetype is used to describe the part of an individual that always wishes to help everyone, even to their own detriment.

Ascendant

In astrology, the ascendant is what sign falls on the beginning of the first house at the time of birth.
Astral Body

The non-physical part of the self that can leave the body during astral projection and move around unhindered by physicality.

Astrology

The study of the heavenly bodies related to a person's birth and other times in order to better understand his or her path.

Astral Travel/Astral Projection

The actual leaving of one’s physical body and moving about on the Astral Plane, a non-material world parallel to the everyday world. Astral Travel is sometimes done while dreaming whereas Astral Projection is consciously done.
Attunement

Becoming one with a particular energy. In Reiki, attunements are used to aid the student in connecting with higher universal energies so that their Reiki energy will become more powerful.

Aura

An energy field that surrounds the body.  In some cultures it is believed to be multi-layered.  Energy healers may clear the aura in order to heal the energy body and facilitate healing of the energy body and person as a whole.

Aura Imaging

Aura Imaging Is a technology that allows you to see in real time what your aura is doing as it relates to factors in your environment and daily life.  It also is a good gauge of your health and well-being and allows you to modify to a degree your energy levels through feedback.  The computer is able to measure and display through color and intensity, how your aura appears, and how the levels of stress or well-being in your environment can affect it.  The object of it is to seek a good balance and it points out many factors that may help in this regard.  The process is surprisingly telling and accurate in its results.

Automatic Writing

In divination, a practitioner will allow a spirit or being to write through them.

In Feng Shui, the compass marking the different regions and their aspects.

In meditation, the practice of calming the self in order to become balanced.

Chakra

Ephemeris

A table of coordinates used in astrology to find where certain planetary bodies are at a given time, such as when trying to create a natal chart.
Etheric Body

Energy body conforming to the physical body. Unlike the aura, it is very close to the body, whereas the aura may spread up to a few feet from the body.

Feng Shui

The Chinese “art of placement” which includes astrology, geography, and other sciences along with a system elements and aspects to determine things such as where a building should be, placement of objects in a house, or the lay out of a building. Feng Shui can also be used to decorate a home. The main objective of this art is to create balance in the home, office, or other place.

Guide

A being, either in animal or human form, believed to be a spiritual guide.

Guided Meditation

A method of verbally guiding others with images in order to help them reach a deeper state of relaxation.

Herbology

The use of herbs as an alternative medicine for mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical needs.

Holistic

A view that treating a person is more than just treating just the mind, body, or spirit.  Instead, the holistic view focuses on healing all aspects of an individual.

House

In astrology, one of the twelve divisions of the chart which has its own type of energy that must be considered in a reading.

Hypnosis

The client is aided into a restful state where he or she is still aware, in control, but very relaxed.  Depending on the type of session, the practitioner aids the subconscious mind to accept positive suggestions by using different techniques.

Indigo Children

The cosmic energy which radiates up the spine. It is often symbolized as a serpent spiraling upward.

Labyrinth

A path walked specifically for the purpose of meditation and self-realization. Unlike a maze with dead ends, a labyrinth is one flowing path that twists and turns.
Lemuria

A land that supposedly predates Atlantis that is located in the Pacific Ocean, which met with a similar fate as Atlantis.
Lucid Dreaming

A state of dreaming where the dreamer is aware of the dream and often can control it.

Reflexology

Reflexology is based on the concept that each body part is represented on the feet and by pressing on specific areas of the foot can have therapeutic effects in the related parts of the body. Each organ or part of the body is represented on the hands and feet. Massaging or pressing each area can stimulate the flow of energy, blood, nutrients and nerve impulses to the corresponding body zone and therefore relieve ailments in that zone or area. For instance: if a person has pain in the shoulder, pressing below the little toe will serve as greatly as massaging the shoulder itself.

Reiki

Reiki is the naturalistic healing system that focuses on the body's natural centers of energy, called chakras. A reiki practitioner uses the universal energy that surrounds and flows to all living things and exists in the very air we breathe, to heal any imbalances in another's chakras and energy fields in order to improve mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Reincarnation

The belief that when someone dies, his or her soul may return as another person or animal to live another life.  Different religions and belief systems different on their belief about how many times someone may be reincarnated.  Some belief reincarnation is infinite and may depend on the person's own ability learn or work through karma.  Other belief systems only believe that reincarnation is plausable up to a certain number of times.

Remote Viewing

Consciously focusing on another place or object in order to gain information.
Retrograde

In Astrology, when a planet looks like it’s going backwards. Often it is a time of imbalance for that aspects. For example, when mercury is in retrograde, situations dealing with communication become troublesome.
Rolfing

A massage technique created by Ida Rolf which focuses on reorganizing the energies and releasing.
Runes

A set of stones with Nordic symbols carved in them used for divining. Also the actual letters on the stones are called runes.

Sacred Space

An area set up and cleared for use in spiritual work.
Scrying

A divining technique that uses either a bowl of water or a mirror in order to “read” images off the surface.

Séance

A group of people gathered, with one or more psychics as leaders, for the purpose of contacting the souls of those who have passed.
